History
The predecessor of Allied Builders was the Carl Petronio Construction Company, started by Carl Petronio, Sr. and his son, Carl Petronio, Jr., in 1955. John Petronio (son and brother), and the brothers Charles and Matt Pecorella joined in the 1960s. During the 1980s Allied Builders moved from Albion, New York to its current headquarters and yard in Brockport. Soon thereafter, Gary Nanni and Terry Stevens joined the firm and rose to leadership positions. Not only have Allied’s principals been involved in the construction industry for their entire careers, but they come from second- and third-generation “construction families” who taught them to value craftsmanship and integrity first and foremost.
Working on water treatment plants during the 1960s helped to establish the Carl Petronio Construction Company as a leading commercial builder. In the 1970s its focus was on renovating and building industrial and storage facilities. By the 1980s Allied Builders had evolved and grown to become a versatile and full service general contractor and construction manager, working on a wide variety of commercial, industrial, educational, healthcare, and municipal projects. In 2004, Allied Builders was ranked Number 2 on the Rochester Top 100 List of the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle’s Leading Private Companies. Allied Builders is now operated by Gary Nanni and Terry Stevens, while the original founders continue in an advisory role. Allied Builders also maintains ties with its former parent company, The Allied Group. Working with the Allied Group’s resources and network, Allied Builders can provide additional logistic, financial, and development services to its clients.
